Nicky: "The Great Dave Flockton. It's funny how many engineers and roadies we had called Dave! Alvin used to follow the Rock band Stray in the early 70s and knew Dave from those days - he has a funny story about that! This photo is most likely from 1981

U.K. Subs wine!

Subs superfan Patrick Kerrane has sent the following pictures of what must be one of the most collectable items of U.K. Subs ephemera that you can get! Pat is a friend of Alvin Gibbs, and he explains: "Alvin gave me this bottle of wine. It was presented to the U.K. Subs in 2008 on their European tour whilst in Croatia. There were only a dozen or so bottles made for the band as a present with these special labels."

The Tooting Flyers

The website is currently conducting a massive interview with Dave Dudley, who played with Charlie in the early 1980s on his solo recordings, as well as with the Urban Dogs and Charlie's other side-project of that time, called the Tooting Flyers.
As a taster for our forthcoming 'chat' with Dave, here is a picture of Dave & Charlie playing as the three piece 'Urban Dogs'/'Original U.K. Subs'/'Tooting Flyers'. The gig was at the Greyhound, on the Fulham Palace Road, London, back in 1982/3.

Charlie Harper's Free Press

Below is a super rare photo of Charlie's band from (circa) July 1972. Taken in Tooting, London, this was Charlie's band from around 1969 to 1973, although these dates are not certain, with various sources citing later start and earlier end dates. In this picture are, left to right: Larry Norris - rhythm guitar, John Wiczling – drums, Charlie Harper – bass, Julie Tanner - vocals and Steve Gibson - lead guitar.
Lots more pictures from Charlie's pre-Subs 1970s days will be published on the RARE PICS top menu shortly.

More pictures of Charlie pre-Subs in the 1970s will be published soon - see RARE PICS on the top bar menu - CLICK THIS IMAGE TO ENLARGE

Old photoframe belonging to Charlie!

Below is a super rare item. Not quite qualifying for an appearance on the Antiques Roadshow just yet, it is an old 80s style double photo frame, belonging to Charlie, which has been kindly scanned for the website by Yuko. On the left is a picture of a Ramones/Motorhead/Subs get together, from an unknown date, probably on the 1980 Ramones European tour. The right hand side picture is from an Urban Dogs gig at the 100 Club in London, with Knox in the foreground, circa 1982/83... If you have any further info on the pictures in the frame, or if it was you who took the pictures, contact the website editors now!
Cheers Yuko!
