U.K. SUBS PIC DISCS & MORE EXCITING NEWS FROM CAPTAIN OI!

altMark Brennan / Captain Oi! Records have confirmed to T&M that the label are planning to do Picture Disc vinyl editions of the last two U.K. Subs albums ‘XXIV’ and ‘Work In Progress’. Both would “be pressings of 250 copies only and would be housed in a 12” die cut sleeve so that one side shows off the picture disc vinyl and the other side has the band’s logo on – so a bit like a normal 12” sleeve with a hole cut out; “a Punk Rock Polo!”
Captain Oi! should have these fabulous collectors’ items available for a late October release to tie in with the November U.K. Subs British tour.
Further adding some background and future plans, Mark revealed to T&M that “I have to make 1000 sleeves to make the project viable and will therefore plan to use the remaining 500 sleeves to do Pic Disc version of both the Y and Z albums when they get released.
alt We’ve been out of ‘Work In Progress’ on vinyl for quite some time now. On ‘XXIV’ we have roughly 25 splatter, 30 black and 50 blues ones remaining with the Tri colour ones long gone. Once these others are gone that’s it!”
U.K. Subs vinyl collectors should also note that the Captain will also be stocking a small quantity of the Czech released vinyl version of ‘Riot’ before the month ends and these will be added to the website as soon as they arrive. The Captain Oi! website will also have copies of the coloured vinyl UK version of ‘Endangered Species’ that Let Them Eat Vinyl have planned for November.
On the CD front, Mark is looking into the possibility of doing short run pressings for stuff like Charlie’s solo LP ‘Stolen Property’, the Urban Dogs ‘No Pedigree’ and the U.K. Subs’ original ‘Live Kicks’. Mark has asked Time & Matter to put out a request for anyone who has any suggestions for Limited run releases – and it doesn’t have to be just the Subs – to drop him a line at This email address is being protected from spambots.
