HOMEPAGE FINAL REPORT:
- U.K. SUBS FAIL TO RETAIN THE 'PUNK WORLD CUP'?
The UK Subs have been defending the Punk World Cup they sensationally won in 2010. After the Subs won the inaugural Punk World Cup on Steve Lamacq's BBC 6Music radio show, the U.K. Subs were one of 8 seeds with a further 8 added from the group stage, with the first round proper seeing the Subs narrowly defeat the Dead Kennedys 2-1 with the listeners vote seeing the holders through to face the Buzzcocks in the Quarter Final, where the Subs were knocked out 1-2. However, the defeat saw the band hold their heads high as the listeners vote was again 'won' by the Subs.
The band would like to thank all the Subs faithful for voting for them.

- 5th June 2012: SUBS KILL OFF THE KENNEDYS
The Subs narrowly squeezed past the Dead Kennedys in a tense first round match today with the listeners' vote sealing a late win with the tie at 1-1 after the 6music team voted for the holders to give them an early 1-0 lead. The studio guest was 6music DJ Gideon Coe and he surprisingly cast his vote to Jello Biafra's crew which came as a bit of a shock seeing as Coe plays the UK Subs regularly. Coe cited the fact that he'd like to hear more DKs on the radio as his reason and later tweeted that his choices in voting today were extremely tough decisions. No matter though as the Subs sealed their sixth straight Punk World Cup win to see them face Buzzcocks in the Quarter Finals on tomorrow's show.
Charlie was interviewed by 6music today and his piece was broadcast as a precursor to the 8 ties being decided. Charlie also thanked all the Subs fans who had voted for them, from the stage at the Subs' gig at the o2 Academy in Bournemouth, where the Subs played a blistering support slot to NOFX.
Full First Round Results Round Up:
1) Crass 1-2 Ramones
2) Siouxsie & the Banshees 0-3 Clash
3) Ruts 2-1 X Ray Spex
4) Sex Pistols 2-1 Damned
5) Subhumans 1-2 Stiff Little Fingers
6) Killing Joke 2-1 Stranglers
7) 999 0-3 Buzzcocks
8) UK Subs 2-1 Dead Kennedys
- 6th June 2012: SUBS KNOCKED OUT BY BUZZCOCKS IN QUARTERS
The Subs faced a testing Quarter Final tie with the Buzzcocks, who had the double strike force of Shelley and Diggle to cause the Subs some problems. It was unclear whether the recent brief re-signing and departure of the Buzzcocks' legendary Devoto for two matches had affected Manchester's finest, but this was a clash with promises of plenty of shots from both sides in a mouthwatering game.
Fabulous news first off was that the listeners again voted the Subs as the best to give them a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, as with the last Punk World Cup, Alan G. Parker again sided against the Subs, even citing an underhand comment that he wanted to see some "real pedigree" in the next round! With Steve Diggle being a great drinking buddy of Parker's and the fact that Diggle also appears in Parker's forthcoming Status Quo film, the Subs cannot really have expected his vote so it went one-all. Sadly the 6music crew also sided with Parker with an eye on their Quo film premiere tickets and the holders were out...
BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BUZZCOCKS ON THEIR WIN HOWEVER, CAN THEY NOW GO ON TO WIN THE SECOND PUNK WORLD CUP?
Full Quarter Finals Results Round Up:
