Nicky Garratt to publish vegan cookbook in 2013

The U.K. Subs' most famous guitarist Nicky Garratt is to publish a fabulous new cookbook next year via PMPress, based in Oakland, USA. Nicky has been a vegetarian for decades, including the period when the Subs were at their most successful from 1977-81.

As well as running his NEW RED ARCHIVES record label and continuing to play with the 'Bacharach and David' covers band SOMETHING BIG Nicky is, as his PMPress biography reveals, "...an internationally recognised guitar player and vegetarian chef..." having been "...over the past forty years an outspoken advocate for Science and Animal Rights, and is active on the lecture circuit on science advocacy topics. He now spends time between homes in San Francisco and Quedlinburg, Germany."

Nicky's book (cover pictured right - click to enlarge) is entitled
Mango & Mint: Arabian, Indian, and North African Inspired Vegan Cuisine

and the full publishing details are:
PM Press / Tofu Hound Press
ISBN: 978-1-60486-323-9 / Size: 10 x 7 / Page count: 256 / $17.95
It is due out in March 2013 and is currently available for pre-order in the UK via Amazon priced at £10.42 including postage and packaging: CLICK HERE TO PRE-ORDER

"Mango & Mint is a collection of favourite vegan dishes inspired by the foods of Arabia, India, and North Africa. It follows the philosophy of a cuisine free of meat rather than one that emulates it. One common thread in these cuisines is that they can be prepared in a buffet style without a centrepiece..."

There has already been a lot of praise for Nicky's forthcoming cookbook including high recommendations written by Eric Tucker, author of The Millennium cookbook: Extraordinary Vegetarian Cuisine and The Artful Vegan, who is Executive Chef at the Millennium restaurant in San Francisco; from M. Green, General Manager of Blue Table Restaurant in Los Angeles; A. McMullan, an award-winning chef based in San Francisco as well as this from current U.K. Subs bassist Alvin Gibbs: "Nicky's meals inspire the realisation that vegetarian food need not be dull to the eye or bland to the palate, and I recommend this excellent cookbook to anyone who wishes make such an agreeable discovery for themselves."
